“One cannot lead another where on has not gone himself” This saying applies to a health and wellness professional in many ways. It is basically saying that it is difficult for you to help someone else with their health and wellness goals if you have not been through a journey yourself. I think as a health and wellness professional if you are going to help someone with their goals you have to have your own experiences where you can relate to your client. It is hard to understand some of the challenges your client might be having unless you have gone through a similar journey. I believe you do have an obligation to your clients to be developing your health psychologically, physically, and spiritually. As a healthy care professional you should be constantly training to grow yourself health wise. I think that spiritually and psychologically is the most challenging of al the ways to develop which is why it is important for a health professional to understand that aspect of wellness.

Unit 7 Blog Post
I found this week’s listening meditation exercise very nice to do. I liked the imagery that they had us use. I found it very easy to think of a person what is a strong influence and someone that you admire and can focus on. For this exercise I choose to focus on my grandfather who has passed away. It was a nice exercise because after I was done I felt so much better because my grandfather always brought a smile to my face and could make me feel better.

Julie,
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you were able to visit and spend some time with your grandfather through this exercise. I'm sure you miss him.
What are some of the things that you do to grow your own psychological and spiritual health?
